Biography

Rabbi Zeev Haim Lifshitz, a scion of the great Lithuanian, scholarly dynasties, was born in Israel.  He first learned Torah from his gifted father, a disciple of the Hofetz Haim, and an eminent alumnus of the Lomzhe and Hevron talmudical academies. As a child Rabbi Lifshitz "sheltered in the shade" cast by the Hazon Ish, and as a young man, he served as Rabbi Yechiel Yaakov Weinberg's right-hand man, participating closely in the composition and editing of Rabbi Weinberg's responsa series, Seridei Esh. For many years he was a talmid muvhak of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach, and he maintained close personal ties over the decades with his illustrious cousins, Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, author of the renowned Iggerot Moshe, and Rabbi Yosef Dov Soloveitchik.

Trained in the analytical methodologies of Torah study propounded by the Lithuanian yeshivot, Rabbi Lifshitz embodies the true spirit of the Torah as it was promulgated by the illustrious Lithuanian and Chassidic sages, and as such is an authentic representative of Torah Judaism.

A student of Jean Piaget's in Geneva for six years, Rabbi Lifshitz has founded the independent, Sadnat Enosh (Human Workshop) Institute, which perfects and puts into practice Rabbi Lifshitz's own theoretical formulations regarding Jewish psychology in the form of diagnostic and counseling techniques.

Over the last few years, Rabbi Lifshitz has also published several volumes of his thoughts on the weekly Torah portion in Hebrew entitled Zahalti va-Eira (Awestruck and Fearful). This website is dedicated to the translation and promulgation of these Torah thoughts.
